Safe Responsible Movers is Boston’s premier small moving company. Our all-star team of moving professionals takes pride in offering prompt, reliable, and efficient service to all of our customers. Whether you’re a student moving between apartments in Somerville or Jamaica Plain, a growing family upgrading from a Brookline condo to a Wellesley 5-bedroom home, or you just need help getting a new couch up your tricky North End staircase, you can trust Safe Responsible Movers to ensure a stress-free moving day. Check out our reviews on Yelp!, Google, Boston.com, Facebook, Boston Magazine, the Improper Bostonian, the Better Business Bureau, or Angie’s List.
In naming us the 2016 “Boston’s Best” moving company, The Improper Bostonian says that we “nimbly navigate fifth-floor walkups, handle possessions with care and get you into your new abode with a flat travel free and nary a headache,” before recommending our blog for “helpful tips on packing and permits.”
Of course, Safe Responsible is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities as a carrier of household goods (license #31608). As required by state law, our company carries workman’s compensation, general liability, cargo, and commercial auto insurance. (However, when moving in the winter, please remember that we do not offer snow removal services. This is because our workman’s compensation policy expressly forbids it.
Boston Moving Permits
Many streets in the Boston area can be pretty narrow for a moving truck. Consequently, we offer guides to securing permits in each Boston, Brookline, Somerville, and Cambridge. (We also offer permit services when you book your move with us. Just ask when booking a moving a quote.)

Who are Safe Responsible Movers?
We’re the best movers in Boston, plain and simple. In the whole of Massachusetts, really. Sure, we’re musicians. We’re artists. We’re writers. And we’re all very stylish dressers.
And we’re fantastic movers.
More than anything, that’s the most common feedback we get — customers are satisfied because we’re really good at moving.
Art is subjective. What’s not subjective? Lifting objects mortal men cannot (or, what is more often the case: lifting objects that mortals really, really don’t feel like lifting). Because that’s empirical and measurable and that’s what we can do for you. Beds, dressers, dining room sets:
If you own it, we can lift it. And if we can lift it, we can move it wherever you’d like: the North End, Jamaica Plain, Westwood; downstairs, upstairs, across flat surfaces.
Not only are we mere movers. We’re Safe Responsible Movers. We’re based in Boston, Massachusetts.
Of course, Safe Responsible is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities as a carrier of household goods. Our DPU license number is 31608. Additionally, as required by state law, we carry workman’s compensation, general liability, cargo, and commercial auto insurance. As a result, we can always prepare a certificate insurance if your building requires it.
Our Service Area: All of Massachusetts
From Natick to the North End, Westwood to Wellesley, from Springfield to Cape Cod, our Boston movers can move you anywhere and everywhere within the Bay State. If you’re planning to move to or from any or all of the Commonwealth’s 296 towns and 55 cities, we’d be happy to move you.
We generally perform three types of moves:
We do it for the love of the game. We get an up-close look at the unique interior architecture of New England, the thrill of navigating a giant truck through the North End‘s narrow streets or a box spring through a Roslindale duplex and up to its fifth-floor window, the sense of accomplishment at the end of the day when we can say to each other, “look at all that stuff . . . it used to be somewhere else; now it’s all right here.”
Because of legal and other restrictions, there are certain items we can’t take (here’s our list of items movers can’t take). Also, we do not offer snow removal services. If you’re moving between November and March, please consult our guide to moving the winter.
