Miami, FL is the eighth most densely populated city in the United States of America. It is a costal settlement, with numerous beaches and it is ranked seventh in the US regarding finance, entertainment, fashion, commerce, culture and education. Its nicknames are the richest American city (according to the study in 2009) and the Capital of Latin America (because of its large Cuban-American population). The history of Miami goes all the way back to before the Americas were discovered. It used to be the home of Tequestas, a Native American tribe, whose settlements date as far as 500–600 B.C. located at the mouth of the Miami River. This area was later inhabited by numerous settlers, and is afterwards known as the only major city in the United States conceived by a woman, Julia Tuttle. Tuttle was quite infamous as the ‘mother of Miami’ as she managed to convince a railroad tycoon to expand his Florida East Coast Railway to the region, back then better known as Biscayne Bay Country. Another interesting fact is that, many years later, the Miami Beach was made (yes, it is one of the rare, man-made islands) where a desolate coconut grove plantation grew. So, we hope that with this small piece of history we are giving you provides you with some inspiration to make your own future in the city of Miami.

Moving to Florida is dream come true for probably all people living out of it. However, the choice of a city determines a lot how satisfied you will be after you move to the Sunshine State. Given that there are many outsiders (people living outside of the USA) coming to the Sunny State, we did a research and found out what are the top Florida cities for expats. We did a research among the expatriates who live in Florida, therefore the results should be quite objective.
